I think this camping trip would be a lot of fun for most people. I just wish my beat up old car can make it all the way to the campsite and back home.

If you're in the greater Sacramento area I'd be more than happy to give you and anyone else who needs a ride a ride. The drive into the desert is going to be a long one and company makes it go by faster. I have a Toyota truck, it don't get much more reliable and safe than that !

The LAST thing we need is something going wrong , have you given carefull consideration as to medical emergencies ? How will you communicate with the outside world in the event of an accidental discharge .

If I go, I can bring a satellite phone.

You DO NOT need to communicate witht he outside world in the event of an AD.....

You DO need to try to call for a medi-evac if someone is hurt, AD or non-AD.... or just a plain accident....

I cant tell you the last time that I went to a range and spotted something I was interested in, struck up a conversation with its owner, and wasnt offered to shoot it! Thats what true gun owning americans do! Gotta love it!

Sounds like a great time. I applaud you for just getting some people together to go shooting. Screw the lawyers and screw those who have to ruin everything with fearmongering. Life is full of risks and it is also full of rewards. Enjoy the weekend. I think it is a little to far for me to make.

There is always risk that someone doing something stupid including ourselves.
Is someone wants liability, tax id, bank account etc go to shooting range.
It looks like our society lost human aspect at all we all pretty much acting like legal entities...
It would help a lot to build training team to meet somewhere on shooting range, prior event. And you and only you can make decision who you want to have on the training camp. Obviously this is not an option for me, to far away from my place.
Don't mean to hijack your thread, but if anyone would consider the similar training camp close to south California I would love to go there.

wow. . . Your responses have amazed me!

I want to take a minute to thank everyone who wrote in and asked to be added to the list. A few points were brought up to my attention and I would like to address them here.

1- I estimated a cost of $175.00 per shooter by factoring in 6 meals for each shooter for the weekend, all the necessities that go along with that, (silverware, napkins, etc etc.) The fact that im giving up my very private shooting area, (I hold this near and dear to my heart) and my time, energy and effort. What I didnt factor in was the distance some of you are willing to drive to do this. So, in the interest of helping out some of you guys who live quite a far distance away, Im willing to compromise. I know you will have to spend a bit on gas to get up here, and I know gas isnt cheap nowadays, but then building a OLL Ar isnt cheap either! If I get 40 people to come to this, I will make the total asking price $100.00 per shooter. BUT you will be getting Spam and eggs for ONE breakfast!

2- We will have at least 5 first responders with us with trauma kits, We also have had one person willing to bring his satellite phone to insure we always have a backup. So safety is everyones responsibility, That should go unsaid, everyone should know that.

3- You dont have to bring a offlist AR! Granted alot of what im doing is geared towards it, but if all you got is a lever action and you want to attend, then by all means bring it! This "camping trip" is for those of us who want to learn a little about their gun that they built, share some information and training ideas, and show off our cool toys that we built with our own two hands! I have one gentleman who wanted to know if its ok to bring Tannerite out there, I have no problems with that as I use it when im out there myself! Another want to bring his 1919 out there, and I said HELL YES! I guarantee I will have my ar's, my hk's, my .50 cal sniper rifle, and my glocks all handy for the weekend, and I have no problems with anyone else who wants to bring toys out with them. AS LONG AS THEY ARE LEGAL IN THE STATE OF NEVADA!

4- Above all folks, this is a chance for everyone to have some fun! We spend hours upon hours of working, laboring, and scratching along in the rat race, and every now and then, its time to take a break and have fun. This is going to be one of those times.

Is there some type of building or shoot house facility out there? Was curious how you would be doing the CQB type training.

You can always practice room clearing with walls drawn on the ground... you don't really need the walls, right?

There isnt a house/shoot house out there at the site. I will have pallets set up to simulate walls and there is also a closed in gorge area that we will be doing the cqb stuff in. Tis is a pic below of one of the areas. . (if i can get the pic to work!)

the last big group that went out there we did all long distance shooting for the most part. We did do some CQB style stuff and had a blast at it. I thought I would include a few more pics so everyone can get an idea of what Im talking about. And just so everyone is clear, the majority of us out there are former marines, and we all wanted to wear cammies, but they are in no way required.

Ive seen everything from blackhawk to the russian military surplus. Ive tried alot of them and have found the standard molle vest worked for me. The main reason being is that I could configure it the way that I wanted to. I included a few Gunbroker links below to give you an idea.
