ID needed for rifle

Is the Id needed for a long gun different from a handgun? I looked this up but wanted to be clear, doing PPT and just want to have everything in order on my end,buying.

When I bought my pistol I need a CDL and then car registration and Im asking if for a rifle just a CDL will be enough.

If you are buying a handgun, you need proof of residency above and beyond your photo ID. Utility bills, car registration, lease agreements, and a few other government documents will satisfy the residency requirement.

For long gun purchases, you just need a valid DL or ID card with current address on it.

My FFL always ask me for both - I have no problems with it -

IF your ID doesn't have the current address, then a POR would be needed with the current address, and the FFL would need to fill out line 20b or something on the 4473 saying which form was used to verify current address.

No it is not required. I have bought 5 long guns with just an ID card.

True, there is no law that states a store can not require two, three or four forms of ID. At the shop I used to work at, I always used two forms of ID but, that's because, it was easier. I already had a photocopy of everything on one page, on file at the shop.
