    5 sales a year question

Would this apply if I put up say, 10 firearms on consignmentat an LGS, or say I had an auction to sell 10 guns?

    Just curious.

If i recall correctly from other calgunners, it doesn't really matter unless there's a pattern. But selling them all at once doesn't really quality.
But selling 10 every 2 weeks would definitely flag you AFAIK.
    YMMV

It is fewer than six transactions per year. You can sell as many as you want in one transaction.

        Okay...so 5 transactions...I understand that.

But, as I mentioned, say I had a gun auction-through appropriate channels, or brought 20 guns, to an auction to sell...

Or, took said 20 guns to my local gunshop, and put them on consigment to sell for me...

Now...say there were 20 individual buyer of my guns...

        See where/why I'm asking?

While the limit is 5, I think there are good reasons for selling several at once like in your example. Say an emergency pops up and you need the money, you decide you're just not into guns anymore and you don't want them or the law changes and you don't want to deal with registering them. Like one of the other posters said, you're not establishing a pattern, it's a one time sale.

I've sold over 10 this year so far. Haven't been flagged or arrested yet lol and just picked up two new guns today without DOJ giving me any issues.

Now, if I was reselling my new guns that would look A little like I was a dealer but everything I've sold he been stuff I bought a while ago and just moved away from (mostly AKs)

The 5 transactions are only for handguns.

Long guns just need to be irregular and not a pattern

The less than 6 law is there to prevent unlicensed dealers from trying to do business. If you had a family emergency and had to sell 50 guns, it wouldn't matter much. They want to file charges against people intentionally trying to skirt the law, not the guy who needs to sell his collection to save his house. Do what you have to do to survive op. In the off chance they start an investigation, just explain the situation to the detectives. I seriously doubt they would file charges against the guy just trying to save his house/ pay medical bills/ etc.
