Question about hard to chamber ammo

I bought some Freedom Munitions and Perfecta in .308 and I had to jam the action closed to chamber it. I tried it in a Browning BLR and a CZ 550 FS. What would cause this, the ammo or the firearms? Is it even a problem. Two different firearms and no problem with any other ammo in either.

I've never had to "jam" an action closed on any of my 308's, including the BLR. Since it is two different guns I would suspect the ammo. It is Freedom Munitions after all....

Check the OAL of the ammo.

I've had problems with perfecta feeding in my M&P40c. Someone more observant than me found out the rim height was a bit out of spec, but if you filed your extractor to accept a larger rim, all feeding issues went away. I wonder if perfecta ammo is just a little out of spec for specific dimensions such as the rim height.

Run the ammo through a case gauge. That will tell you about headspace.

Chances are, Browning and CZ has cut their chamber right, but the only way to be sure is check with gauges. Shims will tell you the exact headspace. Go/ No-Go gives you a pass/fail.

Do you see lands touching the ogive on the projectile?
