    New Gun Control Law

    In Chicago...

    It's not new but, upgraded!

Gov. Bruce Rauner approved a law on Tuesday that imposes a stiff penalty on anyone without a gun-owner identification card who brings a gun into the state of Illinois to sell.

That crime is now a felony that carries a prison sentence of four to 20 years, or up to 30 years for repeat offenders, according to a spokeswoman for Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno, one of the bill's sponsors
I'd like to see statistics from this implementation of "gun" crime reduction.

Doesn't that violate interstate commerce portion of federal gun law already?

I must have missed the point when the government cared about violating the law.

This will certainly put an end to the daily gun violence in Chicago,,, not.
Those that call the US Constitution a living, breathing document only want to asphyxiate liberty.

Right! What I don't understand (I try not to with libs) is they want to stop straw purchases and this is the best they come up with.

Logic dictates that adding another nugget of fecal matter to a large mound of **** does not fix a problem the mound of **** was "supposed" to correct.

Wow! All this time, all those other laws, and THIS will finally solve everything!

It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.

How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

The government does not come knocking at your door. It comes knocking down your door.

Guys, it's the readily available guns from out of state that are the problem. That's why the surrounding states have crime rates that dwarf those of Chicago.

Honestly I'm ok with this, I like this I dont want to see the guy that brings/sells illegal firearms into gang/prohibited persons hands get out of jail in 5 years I want to see them do 25.

Decades ago the Italian mafia capos refused to traffic in narcotics nor would they permit anyone under their ranks simply because they believed the usual rackets were making enough and a conviction was bad but not "narcotics trafficking bad" Think about the power it would give LE to flip someone when he says "you can give me the names of who your offloading these too or give up 1/3 of your life, whats a it gonna be trayvon'?

Not that these guys are smart who pull this but I'd like to think the profit margin outweighs risk in their minds when their homie "ray-ray" got 50 years bringing 3 handguns into chicago. Less guns going to the bad guys the rest of us doing the FFL thing shouldn't have a problem. Gun crime statistics go down and they leave the law abiding alone.

How do they plan on proving intent to sell rather than intent to blast some fools?

I would agree if i thought it would have that effect.
What i think is that they have made it a "double felony" and that it will drive the price of black market guns up, nothing more.

I'd think most of the guns are being sold are in a private setting to prohibited persons.
Not sure if true, how this law would hope to reduce straw purchases out of state if that's the case.

                            Sigh...
I could be wrong now... But I don't think so.
Way down deep, I'm pretty shallow.
The thing is that idiots who vote for a socialist government get the government they deserve.
Unfortunately, those of us who did NOT vote for the socialists ALSO get the government the socialists deserve.

                              Repoman,
Since when do harsher punishments deture crime? And that punishment is completely subjective.
