1/1/2017 New laws and bullet buttons ect

For about a year I have been living in AZ and working all over the west coast. I knew eventually I would be forced to move to Cali so I have been slowly converting my Rifles to be CA compliant and buying 10rd mags or blocking hicap mags to 10rd. I have close to 50 various hand guns and rifles - none of which are on the "banned by name" list.

I plan to move into the state in either November or December and then fill out the required transfer paperwork.

I read through the new laws that passed on July 1 and will take effect on Jan 1 2017 and I'm having a hard time understanding what they mean about existing bullet buttons rifles.

    My questions are:

If all rifles and pistols need to be registered as Assault Weapons, does that mean once they are registered they will no longer need bullet buttons?

    What about featureless grip wraps?

Are blocked hi cap mags going to be legal?

What about belt feds - Previously it was ok if they had a featureless grip wrap and they weren't belted in more than 10 rds. is that still going to be the case?

Also, any good groups I can join that meet in person to discuss this stuff in SoCal?

Thank you for all the help.

All of your firearms need to be registered, but not ALL will need to be registered as AW's (two different things). . only ones with certain features, defined by the state, making them AW's under the new laws, will need to be registered as AW's, or made featureless. We do not definitively know the answer to the BB question yet.

    What about featureless grip wraps?

Looks like featureless it is GTG for now but that could still change.

As long as they are "permanently" blocked to 10 rds or less they are fine. Don't bring anything over 10 rds, and no kits; they can't be imported even now.

What about belt feds - Previously it was ok if they had a featureless grip wrap and they weren't belted in more than 10 rds. is that still going to be the case?

Will have to be featureless (grip wrap and no flash hider) when you arrive before 12/31/16 and kept featureless, or registered as AW after 1/1/17 if you want to restore the features (take grip wrap off or add flash hider). No belts over 10 rds.

Should be some threads on that on the site, depending on where you will be located.
    See comments above

Probably better to check back in November or December before you move. There will likely be updates on the new bills and more details by then.
