AMMO Questions - About Brown Bear 223.

I was just given 500Rds of Brown Bear 223. Its steel case ammo, and I've never shot steel case from any of my ARs. I wanted to know if anyone out there has had any problems with this ammo?

This is a good read regarding steel vs brass.

This comprehensive 40,000 round brass vs. steel cased ammo torture test examines at key indicators of ammo performance and cost in AR-15 rifles.

TL;DR steel is good enough. The Brown Bear, in particular, experienced a 99.91% succes rate to cycle properly. Would I carry to battle? No. For plinking at the range? Yes.
There is no teacher but the enemy. No one but the enemy will tell you what the enemy is going to do. No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you where he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you. -Mazer Rackham, "Ender's Game"

I shoot a bunch of .223 steel. Apart from some additional wear on the extractor (a cheap part anyway), it's never done me wrong! Go for it.
It was just an old plywood boat, with a '75 Johnson, with electric choke. A young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel.

I personally don't use steel case but millions of others do, the deserts and ranges are full of steel casings.

My BCM upper eats any steel case ammo. Good plinking ammo.

I've shot thousands of steel case wolf......I bought a BUNCH of it back in the day when it was $160 per m. Any AR I buy / build has to shoot it flawlessly or it's not considered finished.

My ARs and Mini love the stuff. You shouldn't have any problems with it; just don't expect to win a target shooting match with it.

                Have fun

ARs with chrome plated chambers seem to do fine with steel cases, at least mine do.

My problem isn't shooting it, it's that it shoots low next to xm193 or similar. I hate to re-adjust a scope for crappy ammo. A couple of scopes have no mil dots to self correct with so I have to guess.

Steel ammo is great for destroying things...

The nasty pin-up pictures of yesteryear are being replaced by pictures of sealed brown bear cases of 223. Am I right?
