    Friend visiting CA, bringing AR15

My old friend is coming to visit from WA, wants to bring his AR. He'll be here in November 2016 and return home Dec 2016. He might may stay until Jan 2017.

What configuration does he need to have on his AR? (ARMaglock, original Bullet Button?)

I need to know what to send besides the 10 round pmags. Please cite laws if able. Thanks.

So your friend will be good if he bring his AR with a standard bullet button that utilizes a tool to get the mag out. After January 1st that type won't satisfy the requirement so to make things easy I wouldn't stay past that date till more info is released.

Yep. This is more a bullet button/ new law issue.

If he brings it in - and it isn't a 'banned by name' lower - in CA legal condition as of 2016 law, with 10-round mags, that is no more an issue than you having yours as a CA resident.

If he stays until 2017, things might get squirrely, but theoretically one might have until the end of 2017 to register.

Of course, as a non-CA resident, very likely could not register.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Thanks, Librarian. Concise and tidy, as usual.
So glad to skip the usual, commensurate, endless speculation.

This part is as I expected. I guess maybe there is some magic date that will arrive and the DOJ or whoever will clear this all up for us, huh?
