MOVING OUT OF CA : Advise needed

    Hey Guys.

So just found out I got the job in Texas. I will be packing up and moving there by Oct or Nov. MY issue is I had ordered 3 rifles and 1 handgun and they will be at my FFL by tomorrow and we were planning on DROS them soon. However with this new development (moving out of CA), should i DROS them here with my FFL in CA or 2nd option my FFL gave me was she can ship them to an FFL that I can find once I move to Texas.

With election coming was concerned. But new laws affecting CA starting Jan 1 won't be an issue in Texas so I am thinking I should just wait and have my FFL ship to an FFL in Texas once i find one.

What say you: DROS them here and take possession or wait/have my FFL ship to an FFL in Texas and do the process there.

    Thanks in advance.

To take possession in TX im assuming you have to a TX. How long does it take to become a TX resident? That could be a factor.

True. But my FFL here is very nice. They will hold it for me for a few months. I should call some places in Texas and find out. I am taking a trip to TX in 3 weeks - will make sure to visit a gun store and ask a few questions.

You've got a FFL that you trust here, why not just take possession asap and bring them with you when you move? Sure, you'll pay more in sales tax, but other than that, what's the concern?

Thats why I was debating just getting them but just concerned if CA keeps track of purchases more than another state like TX.

But you won't live here anymore so I would assume that California matters will no longer concern you...

Oh, they do. If I were you I'd sell what you bought here and buy them again when you get to TX, likely cheaper and no gun registration there. Leave the BS behind including their lame *** gun registry.

When we get out to CO my dad and I will be transferring our guns to each other. That way it is no longer registered. I believe it will still show it was registered to me in CA but I will no longer have it according to CA. I love that I can walk out with a gun the day I buy it. Can't wait. If you can wait I'd Git-R-Done in TX so they're technically Freedome guns! And congrats on landing a job in TX!

I'm pretty sure that the state has no way of tracking what you buy/sell in another state. So if they think you have xxx when you move, they'll continue to think that regardless of what you do once you're gone. But on another note: who cares? What's CA going to do to you while you're living in TX? The answer is absolutely nothing at all.

I wouldn't give the state the satisfaction of extra $$ from unnecessary DROS's occurring. But that's just me.

What is the max number of handgun you can sell in a year? 5? what if u sell more? I believe there is no limit on rifles, correct?

Who cares? They aren't going to do anything about your guns in Texas.

Go pick up your guns and take them with you to Texas. You aren't going to save anything doing anything else.

Securing Texas residency could take a while. I am still waiting for my Nevada ID after being here over a month, as I had to provide local utility bills.

Off topic.. What part of CO are you thinking of going to?
I'm planning on making a move there myself and am getting all the outside opinions I can before I take a trip out there to check it out.
