    Question Re: S&W M1911PD - GUNSITE

Received a NEW S&W M1911PD - GUNSITE today for a client, the trigger is sloppy... the trigger wiggles side to side, and up and down. Is this a common characteristic of this model 'NEW' from the Distributor?

If you bought this model new, I would appreciate your feedback of hands on knowledge.

The trigger pull is not the issue, she snaps just fine. Nice gun, very classy.

I will be calling S&W tomorrow, on Wednesday. I want to know if anyone else experienced this seemingly unlikely characteristic... do I have a gripe, or not?

my s&w 1911pd's trigger is the same. I replaced it with a ed brown trigger and the wiggle remained.I believe this may be common based upon the number of complaints i've seen regarding the issue.

I've played with a LOT of S&W "1911's" plus my own SW1911PD and they all had this "feature" of a loose trigger. Loosest trigger I've ever felt on ANY 1911 (even my $100 Norinco 1911's trigger was tighter).

When I sent my SW1911PD in for various repairs (a few times), I was told that the trigger was "in spec". To make a long story short, I sold my SW1911PD and never looked at another S&W "1911".

Check the machining on your slide (breechface area) and also on your frame (lug rest area) and make sure that it's all machined cleanly and evenly. More than "few" SW1911's leave the factory with various machining problems that I've seen.

            DRM6000 / RECCE556 / allenst65 / stevie,

Thank you... your replies are very much appreciated.

I'll have to Email my client and inform him of the results of my inquiry.

He will be joining CalGuns, there is no doubt.

Sounds like we may be headed for some issues with this 1911PD GS; we'll have to see... thanks again.

My Gunsite had the same up/down movement on the trigger. I ended up just replacing it with a cylinder & slide match trigger. Still with some movement, but much improved. Hope this helps.
