Obtaining DROS receipt

Hello all,

Thinking ahead to the 2017 registration I am sure it will be required to have date of purchase etc that would be on a DROS receipt.
If one were to misplace a receipt and the FFL used is no longer in business, how could one obtain a copy of the reciept?

Contact DOJ and ask? I dunno... always best to keep all your firearms related receipts in CA, you might need them to get your guns back if they're ever lost/stolen/seized.

In the event the above occurs a records check of the serial # is the most legitimate way to prove ownership as a DROS from 2007 doesn't mean the firearm hasn't been sold multiple times after initial sale

If you bought a lower before 2014, the DOJ system does not have your serial number, so a records check would not be helpful.
