Steele Peak BLM
I drove to Steele Peak and saw a sign that say Closed Due to Fire Safety Hazard. Does anybody know when it will re-open? Thanks!

Closures are done by BLM on recommendations from Cal Fire. Cal Fire measures and determines soil moisture. Once a "dought" situation is declared, BLM closes the shooting areas down until water is returned to the soil by rain.
That depends on the winter "schedule". Get sustantial rains and they could open early. Expect this to happen every year as CA does not get summer rains and the soil always dries out. This is not seasonal, now it's permanent.Comment

usually after the first good rain storm. call the palm springs blm office to see if the shooting area is open before going so you dont waste your time driving there just to have to turn back.A SWAT Monkey is a powerful psychological tool.
