    OLL Cluster !

    From another site.

I need a buffer plate for an HK4 pistol. These have not been manufactured for years (I am guessing 20 plus) and mine recently decided to eat its buffer and buffer plate. Does anyone remember this handgun? Numrich does not have the plate and I can't find anything via google or search engines...

When are businesses going to learn that group buys are the stupidest thing a business man could ever do? When are consumers going to realize that group buys are the stupidest thing you can get involved in?

I just read the main guy's rant and the last page. They are getting upset over a $6 increase and talking about how people are going to remember this. LOL.

CMMG was the first one to raise their price on lowers before the ban. Now I see guys talking how great CMMG is for not raising their price to gouge people. People don't remember squat over $6 or $8.

Sure $400 lowers is pretty out there and people might remember. These guys are complaining about a $6 difference.

Screw group buys. Now and forever. They are not worth the headache from either side. I sell what I have in stock and ready to sell. It is that simple.

You should call him up and offer to buy any lower people back out on.

I learned my lesson on group buys. I lost hundreds in cash and life hours for the privilege of getting people stuff at a discount. I still had fun doing it.

      C'est la vie.

I read the post on the other site and the original poster raised a couple red flags for me. First he says in big red letters: "I decide that I would up the price to $82 each since I was going to be responsible for the funds if they were ready to ship to me but were not prepaid for by customers." Then he says: "I allowed the $82 price for a short time before I up the price again to $85 due to the time I was investing in this group buy and to help cover the cost of the hired help and absorbe some of what I lost due to the CC fiasco."

That looks to me like HE upped the price, twice. Now, I'm not involved in the group buy, I'm not trying to bash a nice guy that's trying to spread a bargain around. I'm just pointing out, as I was reading his post, it looked to me like he upped the price twice. Not one of the people in the lengthy post seems to have noticed that. What a nightmare. -WH

WTF, the lowers are still under $100. We should be so lucky. I've run a couple of group buys, and they came out great, but only if you keep the numbers reasonable.

What happened? Don't have to name folks. Was it a OLL buy? I can help absorb some of your loses, ie. pay for the price ($90 per lower, right?)

If you have any left, sell them now & you'll be able to pay for your college.

+1, GBs can work, and work well in reasonable numbers. Sometimes you have to pony up cash for 10-25 items or more to get a decent discount, and sometimes an individual can't front the cash for the whole lot.

But I do think the days of group-buys and quantity discounts for many firearm related items are over. The demand is just too high and large orders are the rule rather than the exception now.

my opinion is that the grouo buy got out of control.... it should have had a hard limit of 100 lowers like it was suppose to be at the start...

Not all group buys are bad.
I scored a great rifle and and saved a bundle on a group buy from 1919a4.com several years ago.
It's one of my favorite ways to buy bulk powder and primers, but only with local shooting buddies on that one.

I was in on that group buy as well for 10 lowers but I bailed when their newly contracted credit card processor started reversing all the sales since they were "gun related". A nightmare!

As a contrast, I did the POF 308 lower group buy on Snipershide.com and it ended perfectly since I was in the first group to receive their order. On time and on budget.

Exactly. Once the interest level passed the initial quantity some one else should have stepped up to start Group Buy - Part 2, or Group Buy - Part 3.
