    Do I need to register?

So I left Guam and am now stationed in San Diego. I have heard conflicting statements about required registration, some say I have to register everything with the state, some say I don't have to register anything as long as my guns aren't on the naughty list, some say it's just handguns, blah blah blah. So what is it?

All of my firearms are CA legal and so are my magazines. The list is:
1911 (purchased in CA in 2012 before I went to Guam)
Taurus PT 24/7 with 10rd mags (purchased in Guam and registered with Guam PD)
S&W SD40VE with 10rd mags (purchased in Guam and registered with Guam PD)
Norinco SKS with FIXED 10rd box (purchased in Guam and registered with Guam PD) That one took some research because the 1994 ban specifically names Norinco SKS but says "with detachable magazine"
Marlin 795 .22 with 10rd mags (purchased in Guam and registered with Guam PD)
Mosin Nagant in Archangel stock with 5 and 10rd mags (purchased in Guam and registered with Guam PD)
Mosin Nagant barreled action that is warped to the point that the bolt will not go in (but registered in Guam nonetheless)
Marlin 336W .30-30 (purchased from Gun Broker, currently at FFL on it's 10 day cool off)

If registration is required, will I be able to just take in my registration cards the Guam PD issued for each weapon or how does it work?

Are you still on active duty?

Then, according to California, you are exempt from the New Resident registration, full stop.

    It's PC 17000(b)
    (b) For purposes of paragraph (6) of subdivision (a):
    (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), residency shall be
determined in the same manner as is the case for establishing
residency pursuant to Section 12505 of the Vehicle Code.
    (2) In the case of a member of the Armed Forces of the United
States, residency shall be deemed to be established when the
individual was discharged from active service in this state.
I have read reports from others that the occasional base/post/station/port legal team has demanded a service member registers his/her guns anyway.

As of 2014, qualifying New Residents must register all the guns brought into CA.

I am still active duty but CA is my home of record (unfortunately).

Will I continue to be exempt until I discharge if I decide to stay? Or will I have to register based on me being a CA permanent resident until I change it?

        Messy.

Until recently, .mil was exempt. And still easy for servicemembers who have no more connection to CA than orders to be here.

But a new bit of PC wants CA residents who somehow get a gun out of state to have such guns REtransferred to themselves via a CA FFL. It's PC 27585
        27585.

        (a) Commencing January 1, 2015, a resident of this state shall not import into this state, bring into this state, or transport into this state, any firearm that he or she purchased or otherwise obtained on or after January 1, 2015, from outside of this state unless he or she first has that firearm delivered to a dealer in this state for delivery to that resident pursuant to the procedures set forth in Section 27540 and Article 1 (commencing with Section 26700) and Article 2 (commencing with Section 26800) of Chapter 2.
So far as I know, there has been no formal determination of the applicability of that section to active duty military.

Haha. My neighbor when I was there was a retired officer and said I was the first haulie that he'd met to get approved for a Guam CCW. Don't miss the weather, definitely miss the food though, I would love some kelaguen and red rice right now
