    LAPD equipment catalog

Stumbled on this while searching for lapd bicycle info. Didn't even know something like this existed, pretty cool list. Theres an underwater unit!?

Consistent with our motto, “to protect and to serve”, The Los Angeles Police Department is committed to serving the community while protecting the rights of all persons.

Pretty cool list of info. I wonder if the intent was partially to catalog and photograph this stuff for potential courtroom testimony and it was subsequently made public because... why not?

The BATCAT was on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage. Price tag was over $1mil. It was identical to the skytrac forklifts but had a bunch of electronics and fancy black and white paint job.

I have seen and encountered off road sheriff's in the high desert. Bikes match, but they wore sheriff green and yellow "POLICE" markings.

I shuddered when I came to the SW 6906, horrible flash backs of being issued that boat anchor!!!

That list is a couple years old. Missing some SUVs, utility trucks, swift water apparatus and military 'appliances' (that I know of) LAPD took possession of earlier this year. LAPD also has a 300 gallon brush patrol type of fire truck not listed.

Given how much a run of the mill non-LEO TASER costs, this thing would be big bucks. Although, if one had the means, it might be nice to place a few around the homestead for intruders. You can set up a home security system that you can monitor & control through your phone, why not add triggering these jobbies? Other than the lawsuits, I mean.

On a side note, if I was an officer of the law, I really wouldn't want a piece of equipment that was labeled "THIS WAY TO ENEMY".
