    DIY engraving?

With the new laws taking effect, does anyone have a DIY way of engraving/etching lowers?

Many owners have way too many to pay someone $50 to $75 a pop to have them properly engraved.

The only options I know of is using a metal stamping set or hand engraving tool. But, the finished product usually looks like a first grade craft project or a drunk was doing the work.

Is there a good stencil system to help guide one's hand? Or an acid etching process? Laser? Or a cheap engraving machine that can do aluminum?

Man. That is impressive work. But that's way too much time, effort, and expertise. After all is said and done, it would be cheaper to pay $50.

If you're real artistic and want a one-of-a-kind piece, I could see the benefit. If you just want letters and numbers to meet federal requirements, it's too much time and effort.

This is actually the look I am going for

F' em, as long as it meets (this month's) legal requirements. Not gonna be selling it anyway.

Wondering aloud if the costs be deducted on one's tax return as "state and local taxes paid" After all, you have a number of legal lowers that now require expensive engraving work because of a new state law. Any tax people here?

Anyone? And while we are at it, how about CCW licensing and training costs and fees? Not insignificant. This may be an interesting legal Avenue to explore.

Has anyone tried laser engraving? I have seen some with a 10 watt fiber that claim to be able to en grave metal. I was thinking of the same thing. Between myself, my son and my brother it would be cheaper to buy an engraving machine than pay $50 a piece.

I tried the hammer stamp on aluminum because i did think of using it for my 80%, however, you gotta pound pretty hard to make a mark. Im afraid it might bemd the lower so i never did it. Im sure it wont hurt it though.
