Powder coating is not a particularly good finish for firearms due to the thickness of the coating. Dimensional changes will be a PIA if it gets in the wrong places.

Perhaps anodizing? You could look into that.

I'll look into that, but is the anywhere in OC that does it?

Im exploring a need for this as well with a 80% bare AR15 im building. I was thinking Anodizing or looking into that camo dip thing that ive seen done. (unless its the same thing).

I would love the look of a blue digital camo.

I am a couple hours from you but, would make the drive for a place that does great work...

I searched on Yelp and found that Custom Metal Finishing does it. But they're located in Gardena. Not sure if u would want to make a trip over there to check it out.

Depends on the alloy. MIL-A-8625 Type III at 1 mil thick might be my first choice. I'm not an expert but a quick trip to the anodizer would give you some ideas.

Cerakote. It's not going to be as tough as hard anodize, but it's great as far as spray-on finishes go.
It's challenging finding a legit anodizier that will do lowers.
