    Out of State Storage

I'm looking at ways to set up out of state storage for weapons and magazines we can't have in CA.

Would anyone else be interested in such a project?
The way I'm looking at structuring it, the more people involved, the cheaper it will be.

          Cost prohibitive.

That's why I'm trying to get more people involved.

It's really not cost prohibitive depending on whether or not I can manage it the way I'm trying to. I could do it myself, but if I get enough people on board, I could keep the cost down to $30-50 a month.

They already have such a place. It's called every gun store outside of CA. The best part: you don't pay a dime in ownership or storage fees for a rusting gun you will never see, all the while hoping it doesn't get stolen. You simply cash and carry for something shiny and new when you move out of this dump.

I considered doing a storage system a few years ago. Lockers would be scaled to the collection and include a secured ip camera so the renter can see the contents.

I already have many guns stored for ca residents. One client is coming here to pick up several guns he bought 2 years ago from me.

I just never had the time to implement the idea. I'm away from my guns right now and they are all stored in a vault with 24 hr guards that is used mostly for storing computer tapes and artwork.

To an extent, that's the idea.
There's a number of places in Nevada that store wine and other valuables in temperature controlled spaces. We could rent out a large section of the place and secure the guns in jobsite boxes or smaller cases depending on the size of the collection being stored.

If everyone could have a 48 inch jobsite box for $30 a month, it becomes a viable plan.

To store some magazines for $30 a month is not worth it unless they were some very rare and expensive ones. After a few years you spend more on storage than the value of the magazines.

There are much cheaper options. Those that are not planning to leave anytime soon need a cheaper alternative. Those that are planning to leave much sooner it might be viable though one could just disassemble all the LCM and convert any EBR to featureless, or just disassemble and do whatever you are comfortable with the evil feature parts to avoid any risks you are not comfortable in taking.

I could only see this as being viable if one lived close to the border and did a lot of shooting out of state or one competed out of state regularly.

Currently I have a no-cost option to deal with the new law and would rather save the $30 a month to fund my escape that could happen in as little as 2 years. If that works, I will have enough land to set up my own range in a state that really does not care about the features or magazine capacities of my guns. And if I get my CCW I will not even have to go through a NICS check even through the state is now Constitutional carry.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

How much fire/theft/damage insurance are you going to provide at $30 per month or would it be an "At your own risk" type deal?

For AR-15/M4 type rifles, all you need to send out of state are the lowers. The rest of the gun can stay in California as they're just parts. Likewise for any 30 round mags.

So, why can't you just put the lowers and mags in an out of state safe deposit box? They don't take up that much space.

We actually have some real nice heavy duty lockers at the shop in Costa Mesa for sale on the cheap if you guys are interested. A few have some shipping blems.

Ya... $30-$50/month... or even $10/month... would quickly exceed the value of anything I have that would not be legal in 2017, 2018, or even 2020.

I'm paying #140/mo for a storage unit that exceeded the value of the contents of that unit 10 years ago.

I can imagine out of state storage would work for the following type of people:

                              Live close to the border
Planning to move out of state in the next few years and don't want to sell
                              Extremely dedicated

Personally, I don't see the point of doing this now. Register your stuff if you want, keep some featureless for now while it's still legal, once they pass the confiscation law, then move it to out of state storage. If Hillary wins - say goodbye to gun rights across the country anyway.
