    RV Transport question

I have a van registered as an RV. It is a typical "sportsmobile".
I just installed a safe in it.
If I transport handguns (unloaded) in the safe, is it legal?

Is the safe now considered a "glove box" as it is bolted to the vehicle and therefore a part of the vehicle?

It is not within reach of the driver.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry, don't know. But if anyone asks to search it, just say "this is my own private domicile and I will not be harassed. *****!"

      Good to go.
Same as one of those lock boxes with a cable at goes around the seat rail or a lock boxes that bolts to the center counsel. Must be unloaded with no loaded magazine inserted into weapon

Your going to get two answer's.

        1) You just created a "utility compartment" no you can not transport firearms in it.

        2) It's fine, you'll be ok.

I believe that just because something is attached to the vehicle it does not somehow turn into a utility compartment. A tool box bolted to the bed of a truck is still a tool box.

Does not matter if it is a RV. It is considered a motor vehicle unless it is parked and connected to utilities. Then it can be considered a home. Without being connected to utilities it is the same as any other motor vehicle.

My van is fully self contained and powered. No need for hook ups at campgrounds.
I think it is considered a "temporary residence" only when camped in a legal camping spot. IF that camping area does not have it's own rules prohibiting firearm possession.
This would allow loaded carry in the vehicle but, with so many definitions not defined clearly in California transport laws it is still a risk one must consider.
