Getting a live person when calling the state

For those of you who aren't aware, the DOJ of course has one of those setups where it is nearly impossible to bypass the automated system. Even after listening to all of the pertinent recordings until there is no way the system can help you, if you press zero at any time, instead of getting transferred, you are told "Para continuar en espanol, oprima tres dos."

I don't speak Spanish but I gave it a shot after fighting the system for 15 minutes. I pressed tres dos (32) and got transferred immediately to an English-speaking representative.

Take-home lesson: If you want our state's services, all you have to do is pretend you don't speak English.

The government provides the absolute lowest level of service possible, where else can you go?

You cannot call most state agencies anymore. All are all automated. They don't have the money to pay staff anymore.

When you do reach a real person, most of the time I get "just do the minimum" excuses. They don't really care either.

They have more money than they ever had. They just are expanding so fast they can't feed the beast anymore.
