    Ppt 1 a day? (SBR)

Was going to do a ppt at Sacramento black rifle today and called ahead to be told they only do one a day? And have to make an appointment?

I was also told that this was not a form of denial as they are offering to do it with an appointment.

    Thoughts?

    Find another LGS.
Trying to tweak their interpretation of the requirements.

I do PPT at SBR all the time. I have never heard of this policy, and I have done probably 30 or more PPT there. One of my favorite places for PPT.

Just bring in a dozen donuts or so, they deserve it for being so quick and thorough and also not hassling you about PPT!

I have dropped some coin at that store, but no longer.

I cannot stand behind what I was told on the phone today.

Call tomorrow, see what they tell you. Maybe if you walk in and are a "known" customer you are treated differently. If I walk in they do know me, but on the phone today I guess I wasn't. But I don't agree with that stance. To each his own...

Go to Ammo Depot in Rancho Cordova; they are super cool without all the dumb business-specific hoops I've found elsewhere.

After I hung up I called Nor Cal Gun Vault.

They were more than happy to accommodate a walk in ppt, no strings attached.

Great way to lose business. Sure it's a pain but it seems like a necessary evil for a shop. I use one shop for a lot of PPTs and although prices are high on firearms I try to make sure I buy something from them each time I go.

I saw this notice on their door when I stopped in last week. They have lots of tactical nonsense, but not a very good selection if black polymer pistols and ARs aren't your thing.

As you can tell, this isn't my favorite LGS.

One thing I did notice I got an email from SBR blast right after the new laws were signed for Anderson lowers for $119. They were on sale there a few months before for $59(if you call that a sale).

When I was in Gun Vault yesterday that had not raised there prices.

Probably just super busy. Most shops find it hard to accommodate PPT's when there are 20-30 people there who might be ready to make a purchase, phone's ringing every couple minutes, not to mention the normal admin stuff to keep the shop afloat.

FWIW I would do the PPT if I owned the shop, but I understand their viewpoint in requiring an appointment as well.

I might agree, but the next available appointment was Monday?

Well I would call and say ok I want to make a PPT appointment for now.
If they say no, that is a form of denial, they are not allowed to limit the time or days they will do them, and it is a misdemeanor.

But they could then just say, ok come in well get to you when we can, and you sit there all day, that's what Bullseye in San Rafael did to me, even when no one was there, they wouldn't help me, it took hours.

I like SBR, it's sad to hear they went this route. I understand its time consuming and not profitable if they take more than a few minutes to do it, but it's part of the deal to be a FFL, I have reported PPT violations to the DOJ when they were extreme, and then take my $ to other shops, for life or until policy's and attitudes change..

No it is not a misdemeanor. Charging more than allowed by law for PPT (PC28050) is a misdemeanor (PC28070). Refusing to conduct transactions promptly is grounds for license forfeiture (PC26800/PC26825). Arguably that is even worse.

                              PC26800

26800. A license under this chapter is subject to forfeiture for a
breach of any of the prohibitions and requirements of this article
                              PC26825

26825. A licensee shall agree to and shall act properly and
promptly in processing firearms transactions pursuant to Chapter 5
                              (commencing with Section 28050).

Dealers were admonished in 2001 that they could not limit the days or times for PPT, referencing an old PC that is basically the same as 26825. That was an opinion of a different AG 15 years ago. Our current AG maintains radio silence on everything related to firearms except that which would screw over the citizen.
