    Parents Please take the time

To teach your kids about guns. This is my son who begged me for an hour Friday night to make him a gun belt like Dad's. I shortened an old nylon duty belt up to fit him and found an old holster with mag carrier. Here he has the Airsoft 2011 "just like Dads" and is pointing to the target he has just shot.
We are working on learning the RO commands and match etiquette.
He knows to never load the gun until he is given the "MAKE READY" command, and then to load, engage the safety, and holster. He then waits for the "Stand by" command and the buzzer before shooting, and when he is through he unloads, shows clear, goes hammer down, and holsters.
Only 6 now but he should be quite a competitor when he starts shooting USPSA and 3-gun at 11...

Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

Call him run-like-hell-when-shtf-guy or dial-911-guy but NEVER call an unarmed man "Security".

Thanks guys! It takes time and patience but if you educate your kids abut gun you can worry a lot less about what "might" happen as they encounter them through life. He goes to matches with me and is around responsible gun owners a lot who are all happy to help teach him about guns and gun safety, and he is happy to help reset targets usually... although this weekend he was very lazy!

Kids minds are a sponge. They soak up information so quickly. A little training goes a long way.

                  Good job dad.

This is from the USPSA website:

Can my eleven-year-old son be a member? Can he compete?

If he can compete safely, then yes. USPSA does not have a minimum age. Parents and club officials decide if the child is mature enough to participate.

Yeap, I have been watching other junior shooters and think there is potential he might be able to start pistol earlier but unless he gets pretty big I dont think he will be able to do 3-gun with the shotgun until he is 11. We will see though...

Fun, that's a neat little target too, any more info on it?

Its part of our indoor airsoft setup that lets us practice in the house or garage. The C-zone style target and the Texas star are from SIG Sauer, I picked them up at Cabelas. The two poppers are from Airsoft Extreme in Santa Clara.

Sweet. You must have kids lined up at the front door for miles wanting to come in and play
