Man, so far I have been very lucky on the transactions that I have done here on Cal Guns. You also have to take into account the amount of people that buy /sell here is just tremendous and you don't often hear of people getting burned on a sale. I am the same way when I sell something, if the buyer don't like the item because it was not as described or it is not working, I will be glad to return his/her money.

I've Been flaked on a time or two, not anything to really make me mad.
I normally won't drive to a distance to get anything unless it's a Colt Python!!! I've found most of the Calguns guys are all around good people. Word get's around on this site your reputation is key in business and in life....You think when you do a spell check that it would not flag Calguns as being spelled wrong

The way I see it, I'm responsible to CMOA when it comes to dealing, here. First I look at itrader ratings. If there aren't much, or any, or negatives, I'll talk to the seller. If I get a bad vibe, I'll just back away. On the other hand, communication is key and you can tell a lot from a simple phone call or series of emails/pm's.

Considering it's a free site with NO charges for the classifieds, I don't mind taking on a bit of responsibility to use it. I figure I can't really expect/demand any more than what they already do.

Never been scammed before on this forum. I personally think it's up to the seller to decide if they want to deal with the buyer and vise versa. Other than that, I really enjoy doing ftf transactions because I get to meet more calgunners. It's honestly surprised me on how diverse the people are on this forum.

I've never been scammed here, but I don't think I would send a significant amount of money to a person with few posts, I'd want to do that deal in person to be comfortable.

I have bought guns from forums that I don't visit much as long as I can get comfortable with that persons presence over there. Never been burned in that regard either.

I have a few buys and sales and have met some really nice people, I do perfer FTF but the one time I did it thru the mail it was a great deal so as long as you can see that the other trader has a good track record you should be OK.
Someone said we have to police ourselfs and that is true, just becarefull and don't trade with someone that you don't feel good about.

I recently dealt with someone who had a low post count and 0 itrader rating. He turned out to be a great buyer and a really good person who was new to the forum and trying to get some projects going.

We all had 0 itrader ratings at a point and low post count to go with that. On any forum your going to get people who say ill take it and they are flakes its the internet and will continue to happen, there is always scams but there is also honest people out there.

Funny, some in this thread are advocating a large part of what's wrong with this country now days...Just make more rules rather than take personal responsibility. Cause we all know the bad guys will follow the rules right? That's why all them gun laws work so well to stop all the violent crime in kalifornia so the cops can concentrate on those revenue generating traffic tickets so the state can support a few zillion more illegal aliens and 50th generation welfare mamma's. Isn't it obvious that just one more rule on calguns might cause teowawki!!..

In all seriousness, those who I've had the pleasure of dealing with have all been stand up great people whom I'd be more than happy to buy from again. We gots a great thing here, let's not muck it up....

I've never had a deal go bad on calguns... knock on wood. I have had an "I'll take it" fall through, but the guy had a good reason and apologized... no harm, no foul.

I've been buyin', swappin' and selling guns for about thirty years. Both here on the 'net, gunshows, personal homes and stores. I have only been burned once long ago but I dealt with that situation and he learned a lesson about Ford. Gun people are more honest overall than most. Heck on this site one Calgunner sent the goods for a swap so I could look over the items before we even had a deal, on his dime. Really cool guy. One thing I have noticed is a lot of people only post over in the sale areas. Low post count and only to sell or buy, never to participate in discussion. So you really don't get a sense of the person if you are going to do a deal.

All of my transactions have been face-to-face, and they've all gone smoothly. iTrader points are nice for a point of information, but they don't tell the whole story. For example, I've done at least a half-dozen deals on Calguns, but only have 2 iTrader points. For me, communication with the buyer/seller (what they say and how timely they respond) is the best judge of whether they might flake or not.
