    Max rounds for semi-auto shotgun?

Can anyone toss a link from the DoJ website stating what the max number of rounds a semi-auto shotgun can have, please?

    I looked. Couldn't find anything.

I don't believe there is a max. If you are hunting, I know it is 3 shells. If you have a locked or releaseable mag (Siaga 12) it may be 10, but I'm unsure on that one.
A citizen who shirks his duty to contribute to the security of his community is little better than the criminal who threatens it.

10 rounds max for any semi-auto and pump-action shotgun.

Unlimited for any tube fed lever action shotgun.

If you are hunting, 3 rounds max.
(Don't know the exact F&G Code)

(c)(25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:

      (B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
      (C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.

Looks like HAVING one is not considered an offense?

If you are talking about having a shotgun with a fixed magazine capacity greater than 10 rounds, that IS an offense. "Quiet" didn't post the relevant code.
There was a discussion about this a while back and the AW law doesn't have a max size for a fixed magazine on a semi-auto shotgun. The only part that mentions a fixed magazine over 10 rounds is this part.

A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
          And this part.

A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

Here's the definition of a AW shotgun.

            PC 12276.1

            (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
            (A) A folding or telescoping stock.
            (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
            (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
            (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

So if I were to build a Saiga 12 box mag that held say 40 shells, and then put a raddlock on the thing so it wasn't detachable, I'd be technically within the law?

No, you can only use "high-capacity" magazines that you lawfully possessed in the state prior to 1/01/2000.

also wouldn't the 10 round limit apply to a pinned mag rifle/shotgun?

Having "any large-capacity magazine". It says "manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, or lends" - it doesn't say "owns" or "possesses" or "has"...

You can have any sized magazine you want on a semi auto shotgun.

Just buy it from someone who is authorized to sell them.

Go read what I posted, a shotgun is not a centerfire rifle.

I thought any semi auto shotgun with over 10 rounds was considered a DD. Isn't that why the Striker and Street Sweeper are on the NFA list?

ATF Ruling 94-1 is why the USAS-12 is a destructive device.
ATF Ruling 94-2 is why the Striker-12/Street Sweeper is a destructive device.

Both ATF Rulings said (simplified version) the USAS-12 and Striker-12/Streetsweeper did not meet the "sporting purpose" definition for importation and therefore are destructive devices.

The reason why the ATF does not rule the Izmash Saiga-12 to be a destructive device is because it's imported into the USA in a "sporting purpose" configuration along with 5 round magazines.
The FUD is if someone converts an Izmash Saiga-12 without complying with the Federal 922(r) and/or use greater than 5 round magazines, ATF could rule that the Izmash Saiga-12 no longer meets the "sporting purpose" definition and be reclassified as a destructive device.
