    Mag kits?

Anyone know what happened to mag kits? I used to be able to find them online for different guns but can't anymore. Anyone have any ideas? Especially looking for cz 75 compact mags as well as several others.

    Starting 01-01-2014...
It became illegal to import, make, offer to sell, sell, give, lend, and receive them. [PC 32311]

    Penal Code 32311
    (a) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, commencing January 1, 2014, any person in this state who knowingly manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large capacity magazine conversion kit is punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed six months, or by both that fine and imprisonment. This section does not apply to a fully assembled large-capacity magazine, which is governed by Section 32310.
    (b) For purposes of this section, a "large capacity magazine conversion kit" is a device or combination of parts of a fully functioning large-capacity magazine, including, but not limited to, the body, spring, follower, and floor plate or end plate, capable of converting an ammunition feeding device into a large-capacity magazine.

That explains a lot. Thnx. I Googled it but couldn't get a definite answer. I have mags I wanted some extra parts for because I like to be ready for when things break.

Your mags you want to fix will soon be illegal to own. You should be more involved in gun rights issues in California.

            FYI.

Starting 07-01-2017, possession of a large capacity magazine will be illegal.

The previous exemption for people who legally possessed them prior to 01-01-2000 has been removed.

Penalty for possession will be an infraction with a $100-$500 fine per magazine and the large capacity magazines will be confiscated as public nuisance items.

In order to make them CA legal, prior to 07-01-2017, the large capacity magazines will need to be permanently modified into 10 round magazines.

I understand standard capacity mags r going to be banned however my specific issue is I own a cz75d compact. 10 round mags r $45 at local store. Standard mags r only $18. So if I make them legal they r still cheaper than the 10 round mags I can buy. In addition I need extra parts for when things break, which is the reason for this thread.

I second this. OP, I suggest you buff up on CA gun legislation, and then spread the word of what is and what is to come. The amount of gun owners that are ignorant to the laws of this state surprise me every day.

                    Appreciated or not, he's right.

Too many people come here and check what the current laws are when it's convenient for them or when they want something. When they find out that things have changed, they wonder why/when/how we let it happen. We all need to be in this fight together if we want to have a snowballs chance in hell of beating any of it. Otherwise you might as well just head down to the local PD and turn your guns in.

Mods please close this thread. There is nowhere for this thread to go. It's counter productive for me to respond with things I've done for OUR movement. Let's all start our day by looking in the mirror and being our own harshest critic.

It's a perfect example of not enough information and propaganda being broadcast, in general.

How is one to know something new has happened when there is no notification that new stuff has happened.

To OP, look for vendors who will send you 10/30 magazines. They do exist.

They are usually available at gun shows, the larger ones. That way you can buy them with cash.

@defendersofvalda, thnx. Companies still sell some mag kits but they break them into multiple shipments for legal purposes. That's y I didn't notice the laws were changed.

It has not yet been determined that the fine will be per magazine or per confiscation. you don't get multiple counts for other infractions like marijuana, regardless of quantity.

DOJ should come out with regulations before the end of the year.
