    Scar 17 scamming on Armslist

Just figured I'll throw this out there. Ever since the scar 17 went up in price I've been looking at arms list for them. You'll find a few sellers charging $1700-1900 for supposedly a brand new one. $1000 below msrp. They only take money orders.

I'm pretty sure they're trying to rip people off because the names used on the emails are pretty john doe sounding.

You'd have to be a moron to even fall for that. But, it seems people do need to be warned. Not sure what's worse, people raping here (seller) or the buyer?
It's sucks, I'm holding on to mine.

That's smart, taking USPS money orders for what is already mail fraud... Screw those guys.

A couple of armslist things I look out for:
        • Google search the image to see if the photos shown were lifted from somewhere else.
        • Google a portion of the description used in quotations - a lot of times the scammers will just copy a different ad from somewhere else so it looks legit, but isn't.
        • Ask to speak with the seller over the phone.
        • Ask for a close-up pic on a certain part of the firearm.
        • Correspondence will usually begin with email so keep an eye out for a other red flags; e.g. "I need to separate the upper and lower in order to ship to your FFL" when talking about an M1A ... yea okay
        • Only browse listings from FFL folders

I've found a deal or two off armslist before, but I generally avoid the hassle now. Safe Buying!

Anyone paying that much is seriously desperate. AT that price point they might as well get a SR25 or a custom bolt action.

For over $3500 just go ahead and get an HK MR762. You'd have rocks in your head to spend that on a SCAR.

As obvious as the scam seems, sadly there will be people who fall for it.

                      Umm... yeah...

For around $3K the SCAR is hands down the best .30 cal battle rifle. But any thing over $3400 might as well get an HK MR762 or similar high end AR.

For that much dough, I would expect something that SCAR can do things that an AR10 cannot. Also FN customer service is akin to telephoning Satan. FN hates the civilian market and proved it to me. That is why I sold my FNP. Just like those people who spend 2k on a custom 1911 when a G21 is $600.00. What a waste of money. Especially now when we should be hoarding ammo, parts and lowers.
