So when you go into a gun store and ask about a specific gun in a specific color but they only have it in black (like always). Then you ask for the availability of they color you want & they give you the answer "It's whatever they send us." By "they" wtf are they referring to? Don't they have control of what they order and stock. I call BS. It appears to me that all they want to do is just give you the take it or leave it attitude & if you don't buy it someone else will. As a side note some are now preying on fear and have raised prices over MSRP.

I think it depends on the gun and availability. Some guns are more mass produced than others. Some gun stores order larger quantities and get the pick of the litter compared to other stores. And still, any retail store will want to liquidate what's in stock rather than special order.
I really don't know exactly how it works with gun stores. But I'm guessing they get better prices when they order guns in bulk from their distributors vs ordering one at a time.
If it were my store though, I'd special order if I absolutely had to. Keeping a customer is always top priority especially for the possibility of repeat and referral business. The good LGS that I've found have all had the benefit of multiple purchases from me as well as referrals.iTrader: 52 transactions, 100% positive. -
Might depend if the store is part of a larger chain or if it's a local one off kind of shop that is in charge of their own ordering. I ordered a rifle the other day and wanted black but all they had left in inventory was burnt bronze. I just went ahead and placed the order and figured if I did not like the color it is easy enough to change later after I pick it up.Comment
