The units I served with over the years were sometimes visited by a detachment that dressed in Soviet bloc gear and demonstrated Soviet arms. The troops would then get to shoot them on the range. Despite what I expected, most disliked the AK and RPK and found them clumsy and difficult to shoot compared to the A1 and A2 on issue then. The RPD was always a big hit with the troops.
