    AK 47

I live in New Mexico now.
So for the time being, I can probably buy an AK 47.
I have a POF 6.8 that is great.
However, it is not a common caliber. So before "The **** Hits the Fan again" I would like to purchase another AR.
I do not know much about AK's other than they are "common."
Price is not a concern when it comes to operating a firearm for home defense.
Does anyone out here know a good brand?
    caliber?
    Thank you.

DDI worked for me. The best value for money. US made receiver and barrel. It's also concentric. They come sighted in at 25 yards from the factory. The only drawback is they are very hard to find because of their popularity.

        Thank you.
I contacted Brian Naussbauam in Burlingame, CA. yesterday.
Great Guy, great business. He gave me the same advice..
I am not "schilling" for this mans business, but when I lived in Cali, he took the time to educate me in firearms.
In Gallup, NM I go to Bill's Reloading.
Anyway, I like to read others opinions.
What Caliber do AK's come in?
That is how far I am out of the "loop" when it comes to these firearms.

                For AK:

Anything except for IO or Waffen Werks is good. Some of those companies/guns would be

                DDI anything
                Zastava NPAP/OPAP
                Arsenal anything
                Kit built guns
                Saiga
                Vepr
                Legion
                Krebs
Wasr 10 (good luck finding one though)
                James River Armory

DDI would probably be your best bet if you just want an AK before **** hits the fan. They are american made and have excellent customer service.

Real AK47s are actually pretty rare, and very expensive. Better chance at finding an AK variant., AK Variants can be found in 7.62x39, 5.45x39, and .223, 7.62x54r, 8mm, some guys even build them in 9mm.

                  Check http://www.atlanticfirearms.com and http://www.centerfiresystems.com/rifles.aspx for a start
But I don't come 'round here to meet nice people anyway
And what the hell am I doing drunk in the middle of the day

Just be sure to buy a commie built one. Avoid IO and Century.

If price isn't a concern, Arsenal.

A VEPR in 7.62x54r would do the trick...
