So here's my dilemma...I'm looking to get a new 1911 to shoot in IDPA-CDP matches and I have narrowed my options to two choices: a Springfield Trophy Match ($1200 + DROS) or a Dan Wesson PM7 ($1500 + tax + DROS). I have held both but not shot either of them. Does anyone have an experienced opinion on either handgun? Is the Dan Wesson worth the nearly $500 more that I would pay for it?

Dan Wesson PM7 vs Springfield Trophy Match
My biggest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

Shop guns, ammo, and accessories at Impact Guns — online since 1992. Handguns, AR-15s, AK pistols, hunting rifles, and more from top brands. Expert staff, competitive prices, ships to your local FFL.
See if you can snag this for a bit more than the Trophy Match. I have the DW PM7 and it is amazingly accurate shooter. The trigger pull is light, maybe a bit too light.
Just know if you pick up the DW PM7, you need to hand cycle and lube the rails about 400-500 times before you think about shooting it. Apparently some people had the slide lock up and had some galling issues. I had none of these issues and carefully broke in my 1911 according to Keith@Dan Wesson. -
Handled both while shopping. Wound up getting the PM7 because the 20 LPI front strap checkering on the SA was just too aggressive for my taste & the PM7 just had a better overall look and feel, especially the trigger. So here's my dilemma...I'm looking to get a new 1911 to shoot in IDPA-CDP matches and I have narrowed my options to two choices: a Springfield Trophy Match ($1200 + DROS) or a Dan Wesson PM7 ($1500 + tax + DROS). To be fair the PM7 was marked down $200-ish because of a couple of handling marks..."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

Both are great guns and very accurate. You can get the PM7 for around $1300 if you shop on line.Handled both while shopping. That said, I second what "Fishslayer" mentioned. PM7 has a far better and a more refined finish than the Trophy Match even if you ignore the cheese grater front strap checkering on the Springfield.Comment
