Legs and arms, I can understand from being negligent, even the head to an extent.
Abdomen is starting to push the WTF reading.
I suppose he could have been practicing holstering techniques and it went off from poor trigger discipline and trying to John Wayne the holster.
Now if it's a rifle, that's a real WTF scenario.quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. - Lucius Annaeus
a sword never kills anybody; it's a tool in the killer's hand. -
It's natures way of thining out the gean pool. WTF indeed -gIf ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.

I didn't even think of that. But I'd have to disagree. If he was gangsta enough to do it that way he would have to have a .25 auto Lorcin or Jennings. .22 Would just be too much for him.
I'm just waiting for the story of the idiot who puts it in the rear of his pants and falls on it, breaking his tail bone and simultaneously castrating himself.quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. - Lucius Annaeus

Hey, I know a guy who shot one of the benches at Burro Canyon's rifle range, and if you go to a lot of indoor ranges you'll see tons of hits around the table/seperators.Legs and arms, I can understand from being negligent, even the head to an extent.

That's just it, all those the shots are traveling AWAY from the body. Most people would have to really try, and some people would have to get really creative, to be able to shoot themselves in the abdomen with a rifle.
And that's with them intentionally trying to do it, not just an accident.
I wonder if he was doing cart wheels and barrel rolls from behind shrubs and off the hood of his car when this happened....quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. - Lucius Annaeus

Maybe one of the dogs did it???
It was the dogs that were trying to stop the firefighters from saving him (uh... helping him). The spokesman said firefighters had to briefly grapple with several dogs who tried to attack them when they arrived to help the wounded man.Comment

Rebounding ricochetes lose almost all their energy; there is actually several movies of people getting hit with .50 BMG ricohetes on 100-200 yard ranges and having nothing other than a bruise to show for it.
Deflected ricochetes are far more dangerous as they can retain almost all their energy, but that would require him to either shoot the guy remotely or shoot the gun and run faster than the bullet to get in front of it.quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. - Lucius Annaeus

Never heard this before, please enlighten me. Do you have some source for this? I had a .22 ricochet from about 20-30 feet away (took someone shooting who didn't know better and shot at rocks). It hit me about half an inch to the left of my eye (still on the soft portion of the socket). Didn't sting too bad, but got my attention real quick.quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. - Lucius Annaeus
