    Suppressor and bullet performance

Question if you shoot a gun with suppressor and use normal ammunition (not subsonic) do you lose bullet performance?
Why don't the military just attach it too all the guns to keep it quieter?

Suppressors allow the bullet to fly through free while withholding the muzzle blast as long as possible. Full auto would heat it up too fast and becomes less effective.

Those BDC reticles are useless if you fire a scoped rifle. POI shifts up.

        Huh..

        First-

The .mil is the largest buyer of suppressors in the country. More and more troops are being provided with them depending on thier individual roles and mission requirements. In a warzone where everyone is shooting and the guy next to you is running a 249, no one is going to care about your m4 popping off.

Suppressors will run very well even full auto. although they will get super hot and not live as long. FA is not the concern though.

Suppressors will shift point of impact, but generically groups will tighten while suppressed. The POI does not always shift up. The real issue while shooting scoped guns with suppressors is the POI WILL shift, and if you have no idea in which direction your better off just leaving the suppressor on or off. The reticle has nothing to do with anything.

Suppressors lengthen and diffuse the recoil impulse, so even high power rounds are nice to shoot.

I pretty much only shoot full strength ammo out of my 5.56 guns, suppressed or not, same with the .300BLK, same with .308, .300Wizzum, 6.5CM, etc. and i rarely if ever shoot subs, and I never really feel the need for earpro while shooting any of them- except maybe the 300WSM.
Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

Call him run-like-hell-when-shtf-guy or dial-911-guy but NEVER call an unarmed man "Security".

All the secret squirrels I had the pleasure of serving with had supressor cans on their M4s.

My dad has a bunch of Gemtechs. I can't tell the difference just by looks and feel using them with the standard 22lr, 147gr 9mm subsonic/full power, 556 and 308.
