    Marking 1911 magazines by etching

The Son-in-Law and I have identical Springfield loaded and thus, magazines. Also, I took advantage of the new purchase discount and collected up 10 magazines.

We can't keep them straight when we are out shooting (like it matters) so I decided to etch numbers in mine. I may later add my initials if I can get someone to cut me a stencil.

I used this youtube video for instructions. I couldn't get stencils, so I used sticky letters and a mask. I didn't have the proper shade of nail polish, so I used spray lacquer. As long as its not water soluble, it should work.

Here is the result. Its hard to photograph, so you get these mad picture skills...

Not perfect, but it works. I probably needed to rub the letters down better and wait for the lacquer to cure a bit more. I wiped ovver the lower hole in the 8, so that is pretty screwed up.

I just use a print labeler and trim and place on bottom of mags.
Then add a clear coat of nail polish for protection.
