Should I Start Reloading?

I have always thought about reloading, but never have enough reason to. But with the new ammo law, I might just have enough reason to start reloading. My only concern is that reloading materials might also be restricted in the near future. Anyone else share my situation and concern?

I think lots of us are going both ways. Some are stocking up on reloading materials and some of us (myself included) are stocking up on factory ammo.

We have until Jan 1 2018 to buy what we need for the foreseeable future.

If it interests you, go for it! You'll be able to squirrel away a lot of components before the law goes into effect.

Squirreling away components or ammo... doesn't really matter does it.

Either way you will end up with a sizable investment into whatever route you take if you want to do it right...

There are also laws regarding to how much powder you can store in a residence, along with special storage requirements if you want to exceed those limits.

Reload because you want to, reload because you like it, reload because you want to make better ammo...

I reload for most of my target rounds, but I still intend to start stocking up on some more factory defense ammo, shotshell, and other stuff I really don't want to, or care to reload.

I started about 5 years ago when I saw this all coming down. I'm a hunter and I wanted to learn to reload copper hunting rounds to avoid getting screwed $$$ wise. I love it. It's a lot of fun and so far has not been caught up in any new laws effects. You'll also learn a lot more about the guns you shoot. I started with shotguns for skeet, etc, moved to handgun ammo then rifles. You also can make anything you want, that might be hard to find, etc

haha... I have met plenty of people who have no business reloading.

Its serious business and its not for everyone... Lazy Susan and Johnnie Cut-Corner blowing up guns on a regular basis isn't going to do anything positive for this hobby.

That said, people who do reload and do is well, end up learning way more than they every would have about ammo and develop a pretty serious appreciation for that side of the equation.

Sure, why not? It's a nice hobby. Don't expect to be untouched by Excremento. I believe lead bullets will be outlawed by the Cal EPA before ammo components are regulated. They will make us buy expensive copper bullets.

The new ammo law will more than likely create a surplus of supply as all the regulations are demand shifters not supply shifters. There will be a demand spike right before the law goes into effect, but after expect more ammo on the shelves.

I reload and cast my own bullets now, shotgun, rifle and pistol. Can't ban raw materials.

Fun to do, endless supplies, cheaper costs.

I saw the writing on the wall years ago, which is exactly why I started reloading... even among the cries of:

'It's not cheaper'
'You spend too much money up front to save any money'
'It takes too much time'
'You probably won't shoot enough to actually save money'
'You don't save money, you can just shoot more.'
'Ammo is cheap and I can buy it all online now.'

Buy it cheap and stack it deep. Oh and keep buying with no Big Brother watching now.

Oh and your accuracy will definately improve. Heck, I shot off all my store bought ammo long ago... my cheap plinker reloads are more accurate than most store bought crap.

I think id be a little scared of anyone who owns a gun but isn't intelligent or careful enough to reload their own ammo.
