Spencers firearms in Madera denied another ppt

This is the second time i have been denied service by this business. The first time was when i tried to sell my ar pistol. Spencers employee said it couldn't be transferred and told the buyer when he asked why that it was "shop policy." They also told him that it was a bad idea to buy a gun with so much controversy surrounding it.
So now onto the bigger problem. Yesterday i went to Madera from Santa Clara county (a two hour drive) to sell my friend a gen 4 glock 23 . When we arrived he suggested going to Spencers since he lives 2 miles away. I told him that i didn't want to go there but he insisted. He remembered the last time and told me not to worry that he had bought several guns from them as of recent. He then proceeds to tell me since Madera is a small town how important it is to support his local shop. I agree completely with his reasoning so we head to Spencers.
When we arrive there are two employee's working one is talking with a man about ar's the other is not doing anything. The employee who obviously wasn't busy asked to see what was in the case so i handed over the glock tupperware box. I proceeded to look around i had brought another friend who was interested in buying a cz compact which they actually had in stock. (Spencers only quality that i have found is cz selection). He was going to buy his first gun. Then the problem, the sales person comes over and says "What do you plan on doing with the glock." I told her i wanted to do a PPT. She begins to tell me "Oh im sorry we don't do PPT's anymore without an appointment." I told her "ok im sorry i was unaware of that can we make one now since your not busy" She tells me that they don't have any time to do it today. It was 3:30pm and they close at 6pm. By this time the guy that was talking to the other employee at the counter had left the store. We were the only customers there. I was shocked at the arrogance and smile she gave us.
So after we leave my friend is still trying to give this circus store business and places a call to the shop explaining the drive i took. He even tries to apoligize for not knowing their policy and asks to make an appointment. They say sure you can make an appointment but the next one available isn't until Thursday at 11am. This was on Friday yesterday. The worst part about all this is that my friend who was going to buy the cz compact for his first gun purchase ever didn't even get a chance to handle the gun let alone buy one. When we left he told me he felt they were being racist to us because he is Mexican. Thanks Spencers for treating your neighboor, and a first time buyer like dirt. If you have any experiences like this please share or if you feel they operated as a good business let's hear it.

go somewhere else....PERIOD. Unless you absolutely must have the money, you as the seller are doing the buyer a favor by providing the firearm they want, thus, IMO you call the shots as far as when and where the ppt will take place.

I have never heard of needing to make an appointment for a ppt. If your buddy was a repeat customer and they did not have any other customers, seems like they would make and exception to their policy. So where did you end up doing the ppt?

I know how you feel, OP. I went to a gun store in SGV a while back and they denied me doing a PPT on a legal Kel-Tec RFB, because these idiots never seen one before and didn't want to take a risk.
***PSA: Don't be that guy and post "Contact me, I'm interested". Dummy, YOU'RE the one who's interested. YOU contact the seller! ***

I do blame myself for walking through their door. My friend convinced me to give them another chance and felt he had established a good relationship with them. Needless to say he's not going to give them anymore business.

Send an email to them explaining the facts as you see them and asking why. They will respond. Then use that admission to report them.

An appropriate Yelp review would be in order. I love giving scathing reports. I would suppose a real letter (not email) to the shop owner would also be in order:

                      Dear Shop Owner,

I have been in your store two times and have been treated like dirt both times. I have given you the proper review on Yelp and have started a thread on it in CalGuns. In addition, I have told all of my friends about your poor business practices. I will never enter your establishment again.

                      Sincerely,

                      XXX

I've stopped by Spencer's to see what they had in stock
Both times I've been there, they were the most arrogant and condescending and full of FUD people I've ever encountered in a gun store
There are many of other great LGS's in my area that will earn my business
                        I won't spend a dime in Spencer's

Love it! I am a big Yelp reviewer & I learned something interesting. Somehow, when you leave a Yelp review, the business is immediately notified; you never have to tell the business about it. I've received "Thank You" calls for good reviews & nasty calls for (well-deserved) bad reviews.
