I have noticed quite often nowadays that douche bags that are obviously in the wrong- then double down and become enraged when they are called out on their douche bag behavior.

Range rant of the day...

That is why I said it was time to call the cops. If he is that unstable, he shouldn't have any guns. OP failed IMO, and should have called the cops. No racked guns on the table, and yes, leave and call the cops. Stay close enough so the cops can contact you if they need to.You stayed at the range with demonstrated unsafe behavior by another shooter and an overt threat by someone who was armed and had the appearances of being unstable? To quote Matthew Quigley: "This ain't Dodge City. And you ain't Bill Hickok". It was time to get out of DodgeComment

Wise decision to leave. I was at a range & the idiot next to me was showing his GF where the safety was on a Beretta 9mm. Every time he showed her how to operate it, he'd turn the gun sideways, pointed at me. When he saw me move out of the way, he laughed. I left after informing a range employee. Better to shoot another day than to not make it to another day.Last week I just "assembled" another AR for a friend, it was his first so he was super excited to get the red dot sighted in, so we headed down to Raahauges and sat in the middle of the 100 yd rifle range, on our right, a few guys having fun, on our left, a father and son sighting in his rifle as well, so after a line break, we all cleared our chambers, bolts open and called the line cold. As my friend and I were walking back, the father sits at his bench and starts closing his bolt!!! I pushed my friend to the other side of the range and told the father that he needs to wait until we call the line hot before he touches anything on his bench, the other guys told him the same, but here comes the hot headed son telling us that he can't hear or see. We explain the rules once more and he gets even more angry, staring us down like we are now his sworn enemy, THEN he goes to his trunk and pulls out his pistol and puts it in his pocket. I'm thinking what the hell is this guy planning to do now? So as a precaution, my friend and I secretly rack our slides and put our pistols on the table. Needless to say we had our eye on him the whole time. We continued to shoot but had that uneasy feeling so we packed up and left.
What I don't get is if the son said that he can't see, how the hell was he able to shoot his rifle at 100 yds? The old guy was shooting 1 inch groups as well.
I get wanting to protect and defend your dad but throwing an attitude and getting angry at a gun range is just stupid.
Rant over.Comment

Cops absolutely should have been called. There's no way that him going to his trunk after an argument, getting a handgun, and concealing it is legal. That nut is going to hurt someone sooner or later, and the media will have a field day with it, generalizing all of us who are responsible gun owners.Partisanship is cancer. Glory to the USA, glory to Ukraine, and I hope that someday Russia is free and the normal people have a voice.

Ha, my son would have been the one to catch my mistake before anyone would have a chance to say anything to me.I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.Comment
