    Amazon reviewing my personal account

Just got a email saying my Amazon.com account is suspended until I fax amazon my ID or passport. I don't sell or do reviews so why do they need this? It's a real email and not a scam. I spoke with two amazon representatives and they both said it was real but not under their department. They escalated my case and sent it to the department that deals with these matters but could not put me in direct contact with them. They just said respond by email with your reference number. Anyone ever have this happen to them?

My recent purchases included surplus military knee pads and three shemaghs. Bought these for my frontsight class this weekend. Could the items I purchased raised red flags or am I just being paranoid.

Hear those black helicopters in the distance? Don't worry, they're not for you.

You bought misurp and shemaghs. You are now on every watch list that you didn't know about. Welcome to a preview of what will happen if hildabeast gets elected.

Or make sure it's really from them or some scammers pretending to be.

If you didn't respond to the email. See if you can log into you account via the web page not any email link.
If you can log in it's spam ignore it.
If you can't call them don't use that email to communicate.

I wouldn't give them **** until you get a firm answer on why.

...and even then, why the **** is it their business to ask for this?

What you bought is not illegal, even in CA.

Did you check the full "From" line to determine if it's legitimate?

On the phone with them and it's a legit email. The account is currently closed and she doesn't know why. I now have to wait for an account specialist to contact me within 48 hours.

Welcome to the "no fly - no buy" list.

Buyer profiling? If you bought Milsurp Kneepad pads and shemaghs you may be interested in....

It would be interesting to see what they will spam you with on the home page if you ever get your account re-activated.

Stop calling them Lawmakers. It only encourages them.

This is from an email I received this morning. All I needed to do was go through my account and change my password.

                        "Hello,

At Amazon we take your security and privacy very seriously. As part of our routine monitoring, we discovered a list of email addresses and passwords posted online. While the list was not Amazon-related, we know that many customers reuse their passwords on multiple websites. Since we believe your email addresses and passwords were on the list, we have assigned a temporary password to your Amazon.com account out of an abundance of caution.

You will need to reset your password when you return to the Amazon.com site. To reset your password, click "Your Account" at the top of any page on Amazon.com. On the Sign In page, click the "Forgot your password?" link to reach the Amazon.com Password Assistance page. After you enter your email or mobile phone number, you will receive an email containing a personalized link. Click the link from the email and follow the directions provided.

Your new password will be effective immediately. We recommend that you choose a password that you have never used with any website.

You can also enable Amazon's Two-Step Verification, a feature that adds an extra layer of security to your account. In addition to entering your password, Two-Step Verification requires you to enter a unique security code during sign in. To learn more about Two-Step Verification, go to Amazon.com Help, go to Managing Your Account, and click More in Managing Your Account, and then click More under Account Settings.

                        Sincerely,

                        Amazon.com

Seems legit. I had to do a similar thing with Adobe a year or so ago when bunch of their account info got compromised.
