How many ARs do you think you need?

None for me. I have fired several and carried an M-16 in the ARMY, but they just don't do anything for me.
To each there own, I never had a desire to own one.

I'm good with two. One with an ACOG, and one with a carry handle. I actually much prefer M1 Garands, M1As, and Mini-14s.

True enough, I get it. I probably don't NEED as many pistols as I have, but well...yeah. These past couple of years I've spent way more on firearms than I ever thought I would. I'm 98% sure it's an addiction.

Don't read too much into the thread title, I enjoy all my firearms as much as anybody, and in no way do I think there's such a thing as "too many."

Every one says that, but from my experience there is a limit.

Once I went over 20 AR15s, I started asking myself, WTF am I thinking?

For the record, I own 180 handguns and still buy more every week. But when it comes to ARs, I found that 23 was my limit.

That's a good point, thinking about the next generation, which is probably the main reason I'll end up with a few more. My first child is on the way, a couple more will follow, and I want to be able to adequately arm all of them. Because, I ain't giving away chit til I croak!

Thats what I like to hear! And Im in the same boat. I have 2 kids and my girlfriend has 2 kids. And were both still in our 20's and we both want more... So Im gonna need a whole damn armory to arm this little Platoon.

Rest are lowers as spares.

Actually have more than I need w/2 back up 80% lowers, GTG.

That said, I know there's a run on lowers right now, for obvious reasons, and I'm wondering how much of it is due to just the possibility of not being able to buy them legally any more in the near future, or because people really can make use of all those lowers. I understand the whole forbidden fruit thing, I'm just as guilty. A question I've been asking myself lately is do I want to purchase more lowers just because I may not be able to soon, or will they really be useful to me? Would my money be better spent on more uppers to complete builds? If the SHTF sooner rather than later (say around election time) the only lowers which will benefit me are ones which will be part of a complete rifle.

1. .223 service rifle with stock stock and 5 pound match trigger
2. .223 carbine with your choice of collapsible stock and more appropriate trigger
3. .308 precision rile
4. AR45 for steel and indoor use
5. Pistol

One can argue that they are for backup in case an existing rifle gets worn out, but I'm willing to wager a majority of people here have enough firearms they will likely never "shoot out" any of them in their lifetime.

Theft is a bigger problem. I had a few rifles which were illegal in California stashed in an out-of-state storage facility until that happened.

It could be government theft if/when "assault weapons" are defined to be nuisances subject to confiscation like regular capacity magazines. Do you stop shooting your AR15s, or pay your money and take your chances? The later would hurt less when you have spares.
