Unintended gun safe consequences

So I purchased a gun safe for my apartment I already had one but kept it at my family's shop. There were a few break ins in my complex and although I usually don't keep many guns at my apartment but thought it was a good idea especially since my other safe is full. So when my friends and I manhandled it into my place one of the neighbors took notice asked what it was and called my landlord because she felt threatened.
I got a call telling me that my lease which ends in August would not be renewed if I continue to keep firearms on the premise and that the gun safe must leave.
Now I did not plan on renewing as I have already lined up a house to rent but irregardless i feel like I'm being pushed out because of my hobby. I took good a look at my lease and nowhere does it mention firearms.
My property manager has even seen the steel targets I welded up in my truck and asked where in the desert I shoot but it's not his call. Just a reminder the majority of people out there are not very understanding.

If its not specifically mentioned in the lease, they cant keep you from possessing things you are legally able to own. Since she put it in writing I would be sorely tempted to find a scumbag lawyer who wanted to make some money...

I am fortunate enough to have storage options and im moving but if all I had was that apartment for storage I would be up **** creek.

Sue the living crap out of the complex, the management company, the bond company and the General Liability insurance for the property.

Get her to put it in writing that you are to remove any firearms and/or your safe.

For your sake OP I hope they provide it to you in writing, you can have your rent paid for the next 6 months.

You told your neighbor it was a gun safe? Why didn't you tell her you we're given a bunch of family heirloom valuables, camera equipment, or something?

Just for S&G call your property manager back. Politely mention that
your attorney [after speaking with counsel] they asked that PM Co put the demand for removal of lawfully owned items from the property in writing.

As a long time landlord here in Commyfornia. I keep fairly abreast of the laws regarding my legal responsibilities and rights.

If you are storing items deemed "UNSAFE" due to zoning, fire restrictions, or PC. Yes, they can demand you remove them. Other than that, it's NOTFB.

I only told my neighbor it was a safe and never admitted that it was primarily for guns although it does say remington right on the front not too stealth.
I will consider talking to my landlord again about the issue even though I'm moving I know for a fact I'm not the only gun owners in the complex.

I had that response when I first moved into my apartment before I got married. It was a gun cabinet but my neighbor asked if I had guns, I lied said no and it was just to protect valuables. They found out I had guns when we were evacuated due to a wild fire and I was tossing ammo cans and long guns in the back of my truck. Turned out no one cared. Hope your situation changes for the better.

I'd call CGF and see if that's legal/they'd represent you. I don't think they can do that.

When the lease is up the landlord doesn't need to give a reason. Your lease is up, by. Why make trouble. Chalk it up to Calif wakos.

For those that rent in major population centers, you must consider discretion. Just look at the pest control dude who was killed because someone at the motel saw him with a rodent killing pellet pistol.

I recommended to another renter slash poster to get a smaller safe and put it in an obvious refrigerator box for moving & transport.
