I would agree it would be a NO-OP if they were no longer selling them, but that does not appear to be the case.
I read that as well. I don't understand how this works. How am I supposed to look at or purchase a rifle they are not displaying? Will they have some sort of catalog in the firearms section?

Behind the counter specials. Secret handshake. Treating Modern Sporting Rifles like contraband.

They'll be in a storage room. But ya it seems that browsing will be incredibly more difficult. I see this requiring several more employees to be running back and forth retrieving guns for customers to look at or compare. I doubt this will increase sales so I can't help but see it as a stupid move.

I buy most of my guns online but for people who buy locally, I see this slowing down firearm acquisitions big time.

Everyone should go in and ask to see every AR they have, one at a time. Then leave with nothing.

Lol jk but seriously, were people buying DD rails and fixed rear sights in record numbers in academy? I seriously doubt it. You get the gun at a dealer and the furniture online. The academy I went to in Killeen never had great pricing on guns but it had ok pricing, just like dicks or cabelas. But they did have decent deals on hunting ammo sometimes. Scored federal fusion and several types of hornaday SP hunting and match ammo in 308 for around $1/rd back in 2013.
Whether or not people buy much DD from Academy is not as important as the message it sends and the shoppers it influences . Academy is now MARKED as shaky-on if not anti-2A.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

Maybe academy should also put a quiet safe area in too, in case all the scary things traumatize a customer.........

Maybe they can fly the flag in the back room too.......so as not to offend others.

I believe that the same Corporation that owns Academy Sports also owns The Sports Authority, and some other sporting goods stores.

They are under intense financial stress (bankruptcy actually, I think) and are trying to conserve cash. It's no wonder that they have failed in CA, their sales strategies/policies have made them unprofitable. Bowing down to the Antis is just another blunder by Corporate Management at Academy Sports.
