Just needed somewhere to vent on how people are so quick to try and take away guns. All you see and hear now is assault rifle this, automatic that, weapon of mass destruction.
First of all I would like to remind the readers of this rant of the full second amendment and not part of it. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This was made so the people/civilians can defend themselves and the FREE states! Take away the firearms and the people are defenseless. I get it, you think no more guns will stop the shooting. Oh, but wait, didn't you make schools gun free zones and I'm still seeing reports on the news about school shootings.
Also you start to get on a very slippery slope when you start talking about the second amendment being outdated and it doesn't apply to us. Let us not forget the holocaust. Also Philippines when Marcos declared martial law due to bombings of public places and political assassination attempts. The declaration of martial law was initially well received by some segments of the people but became unpopular as excesses and human rights abuses by the military emerged. Torture was used in extracting information from their enemies. Remember that the government can now take you away and send you to a prison not on US soil with out due process for being suspected of terrorism. You also have Pol Pot with his Khmer Rouge and the killing fields of Cambodia where he slaughtered and tortured his own countrymen.
I understand people are upset of recent events but it's our second amendment that is to blame. We haven't recently become a "gun culture" society. We have had guns since the making of this great nation. You can look back at the Burr - Hamilton duel between two US political figures. Wake up people, our founding fathers knew that we need to bear arms.
I feel better. Thanks for listening.
