    Hi Cap pistol Mag.

I know the law is clear on Hi cap. Mags when it comes to rifles, but with pistols seems to be different and not as clear. l was at the Angeles shooting Range in san fernando Valley half a year ago and the pistol shooter ( with a high end pistol) was telling me there are exceptions and he himself was shooting a 16 round Mags. He started to explain it but that day l couldnt stay long. I asked an out of state dealer about shipping and they said they would ship to an FFL. I did do research on this and am still unclear. Is it maybe a competition exemption?

The only exemption that I'm aware of for regular citizens like you and I is if you owned the 10+ round magazines before the ban took place in 1999 than you are still allowed to own/use those legally acquired pre-ban magazines.

You can not legally sale/buy/transfer/import 10+ magazines unless your a cop, or ffl.

So in short, unless you become law enforcement you can not legally acquire 10+ magazines in this state anymore. Also, just as an FYI, their are cities like L.A. that have banned 10+ magazines (LEO exempt) and you can be criminally charged if you are found in possession of them. Even if they were legally acquired before the ban. It's a minefield out there dude. Laws are ever changing. Stay safe.

The statute of limitations on this particular crime against humanity is three years. Hard to figure with common core but the rest of us can work it out.

No law against possession in most of the state. If you legally own the mags in question you can use them as you wish.

Put another way there's a variety of ways to own them legally, but nothing that's useful to you at this point.

OP is a little confused on the rifle/pistol issue - owning mags is the same either way. If you're using a fixed 10 round mag to avoid assault rifle issues use might be an issue, but a guy with a featureless or simply a rimfire rifle would be fine.
