I started just such a place ten years ago but the LAPD Gun Unit had other ideas. Maybe you guys want to do a story on that.

Is this really for History Channel or is it that you HOPE History Channel will pick it up when you pitch it to them? Sounds like a small production company with wishful thinking in contemplation of pilot mode only.

Besides, AETN/A&E/History Channel have specific initial application requirements for its shows that go beyond a simple email, and usually with waivers, hold-harmless, and other creative releases up front. They specifically avoid ambiguous and random emails for submissions to keep a guard on false claims from people later claiming they submitted ideas for shows that turn into rights/copyright lawsuits.

              And... @gmail?

Correct - and a whole lot more. Even when such posts for open casting calls are placed on Craigslist, by the network, there is a caveat and link to actually apply through the parent address.

This is a bit too amateur and anemic in legal guard for me to have ANY belief it is being vetted by the AETN/A&E/History Channel.

It's possible it's for a hopeful pilot with a nod that History Channel would LOOK at what they produce - and/or could be an idea stemming from History Channel going to it's regular vendors of a pitched idea to several small production companies to come up with sample pilots and then History Channel chooses the best one; however, at this point, in the creation of the pilot, it would be a small production company completely autonomous and independent set up to initiate the project on their own funding, and the payment milestones would not even begin to be doled out until they are picked up, and then must go to History Channel with a 10 minute sample, and THEN History Channel would OK the project, and then they must meet insurance requirements, BEFORE History Channel would OK it...

...and ONLY then do the contracts get drawn up and shows cast for the PILOT, with funding (after the 10 minute sample is approved). That casting stage for the 10 minute sample is the give away; typically whatever company is found for the pilot will be the company that appears in the eventual show - which tells me History Channel hasn't picked it up yet, which they won't back it until it does, and indicates this is probably still just wishful thinking.

So unlikley there is any contract yet, any show, or any real plans by History Channel.

                It's a good idea though!

                .

The email address would at least be @historychannel.com. Also, firearms shops would lose a lot of business if the customers were being recorded.
