South LA Dispensary Owner Shoots Robbers

The owner of a dispensary in Walnut Park (between Watts and South Gate) shot and critically injured two would-be thieves last night.

Law enforcement is treating it as self-defense but indicated it "may" later be treated as homicide.

Edit: Owner told KTLA the intruders had body armor and an SKS and he downed both of them and got out unscathed. I want to meet this dude.

Bringing a rifle and body armor to a pot dispensary. Hmmm, I wonder what they wanted ?

But, but, but... I thought legalized pot would reduce crime?
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I would hope there would be no charges even if the wounded perps don't make it out of CCU. I'm no defender of legal pot (just not my thing) but armed thieving scumbags need to fear the potential for shop owners to protect themselves.

When banks wont let these dispensaries use their merchant services the pot shops are forced to use cash only. This makes them a big target.

And pot shops are not the only businesses that get robbed at gun point...so do liquor stores...should we ban those too?

Anyone taking odds on whether the .gov makes an example of this guy by prosecuting him?
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

Yeah they use to tell you putting your money in a bank was safer too, but dummies are dummies.

And legalizing would not reduce crime completely...i dont think anyone has stated that. What it will and has been doing is taking money and incentive out of the cartels to produce and smuggle it to the US....

Now that alot of people rich, middle class and poor(mostly suburban folks) are getting addicted to prescription opiates and then turning to heroin after they can no longer get a prescription or pills become too expensive has lead to a surge in heroin cartel smuggling...

Hildabeast will probably give free college access to illegal aliens . . . so they can just claim to be illegals?

The manager of a medical marijuana dispensary in Walnut Park opened fire on two armed men after he said the suspects tried to rob him.

It's interesting to me that ABC makes no mention that the store is a dispensary.

The difference is, liquor store robbers aren't there for the liquor.

Plenty of online merchant services vendors are 420 friendly, the store's choice to keep large quantities of cash around instead of paying higher fees for a different MS vendor is their own choice, no one forced them to. Besides, I'm sure any cash that was/would be taken is just a bonus on top of what they were really after.
