    6.8 spc ll / 5.56 77 grains

I am trying to find info. about the 6.8 vs 5.56 77gr. From what little info. I had to work with, what I came up with is that a 6.8 with a 14.5" barrel has about the energy as a 5.56 18". I can't get the cross sectional differences, or results from ballistic gel tests. What I want to know if i choose to hunt pigs under 200lbs. and under 150 yards would the wound channel of both these choices be close to being the same?

I'd go with the 6.8SPC, you can load 90gr to 130gr, so you have more upside for hunting other beasts IMO.

Maybe a mod. Can move this thread to the hunting section?

        6.8

According to my research the energy of both rounds are the same at 100 yards.

If all you want the 6.8 for is hunting then it works well. Either way the pig is going down. If you really want to ensure the pig goes down, go .308.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

              6.8

I just talked with arpreformance for about 1 hour and bought one of there complete uppers. Anyone have one? I am interested in group sizes with factory ammo @ 100 yards.

This is with handloads and the gun still needs some tuning. I found that the factory Hornaday loads are shooting very close to my handloads at this time.

                  6.8

Just went on the hornady ballistic web site and the ballistics of the 100 gr. GMX out of a 16" darrel and the 5.56 75 grain out of a 20" barrel are almost the same.
