what would it take (time and money) for SW to start making there revolvers to the finish standard of early 1950's guns, and how much would you be prepared to shell out above the curent market value of there revolvers just so you could have that incredible polishing found only on early examples.

Things would certainly take longer and cost more if they were to get rid of the CNC machines and revert to the old methods of manufacturing. I would think the time would be about 5 times what it takes now, and maybe just 2.5x if you let them use CNC for the major components. Retail pricing would be through the roof, I think a revolver in blue steel that would be the equivalent of early post war production might be $2000 MSRP. Don't flame me if these numbers sound ridiculous, I am just guessing at this. There was certainly more attention given to each piece during the final polish and assembly, and this is done by skilled hands which take a bit of time. Time equals money so there you have it.

Thats a shame,, pitty they don't offer a special service, some what like the colt custom shop would do on Pythons. That way you could order a model 29-10 with the same finish as the early S series models. There must be one gun everyone wants to own from the past but cannot find in mint condition. Having a service that would go the extra to obtain this, might find a small market amongst gun collectors.
