What do you guys think about this grey ghost minimalist plate carrier setup? Is it too much?

3 HSGI taco rifle pouch
3 HSGI taco pistol pouch
1 Tactical Tailo admin pouc
1 tourniquet pouch

As in too much to wear to the target range, hunting, camping, and around the house and yard, no not at all.

I consider a minimalistic PC to be one that you can wear under clothes and not be seen. So your setup is far from minimalistic. My opinion.

Just out of curiosity, how do you plan on pulling out your rifle mags with the pouch and the pistol mag pouches on top of it?

Just out of curiosity, how do you plan on pulling out your rifle mags with the pouch and the pistol mag pouches on top of it?

The carrier isnt mine yet its actually for sale so im planning to buy it, i have been wanting to get a minimalist PC. I thought about the rifle pouch and pulling the rifle mags out will be a problem. Since its a minimalis PC im thinking its kinda "tacticool". Planning to remove the admin pouch and the pistol taco pouch. And remove one rifle pouch, replace it with two pistol pouch. What do you think?

It will be my first PC and no experience at all, if you guys could school me it would be much appreciated.

The tacos should go. Admin pouch is where your sling rides at rest. Those tacos are gonna snag on your sling a bunch.
Almost impossible to index those mags under your chin.
I only run AR mags on the chest and pistol/pistol mags/ifak on my belt. Ymmv.

I think i need to remove the pistol tacos and admin pouch since it will interfere. What do you think about the rifle pouch, should i remove one?

there are better alternatives to HSGI

i would suggest any typical rifle mag pouch with these inserts:

Good points were made about the interference with the reload draw. I am also curious about why folks put thier pistol mags so high up, since you have to draw them in front of your face.

I have went from a chestrig/plate carrier setup loaded for bear, to more of a battle-belt setup with a minimalist PC load out. I have a couple chest rigs that I can throw on over top, depending on the long arm I want to use (Shotgun or AR). Its kinda like the layering concept for cold weather, add or remove layers based on the tactical situation.

Points to consider: what are the primary or critical motions you will need to do while wearing your gear? do you plan on going prone, operating from a vehicle, etc? do you have a place to put the weapons after the level of force is de-escalated (holsters and slings)? does your loadout interfere with the sling or shouldering of the weapon?

Mentally walk through each activity and see where you naturally reach to for reloads (i.e. your normal range of motion), and where the "tangley" obstacles are if you are using it from a vehicle.

DeusExMachina makes a very valid point about the weight and how it is distributed on your body. For me, three on the front is offset by three on the rearward left hip and holster on the right hip. Plates get heavy, plus extra weight on the front plate gets tiring all day.

One last thing on my mind is how adjustable or padded are the shoulder straps. the more weight you put on the vest, the more is transferred and rides on your shoulders. Proper positioning of the plates (read:high) depend on how well you can adjust the shoulders and your body shape.
