    Busted 45 custom barrel

Saw this at a gun store awhile back. Owner said he was shooting Wolf through it. Gunsmith said not to shoot steel cased ammo in custom barrels.

    Food for thought.

The .45's pressures aren't all that high, but at least the barrel did a good job of containing it all. Was there any damage done to the slide or frame?
In a letter dated December 28th 2005 Deputy Attorney General Alison Merrilees stated:

"You should also be aware that we intend to add it soon to the DOJ Assault Weapons Identification Guide. Therefore, the Stag-15 will soon be classified as an assault weapon."

    To Mrs. Merrilees I ask:

    Whats your definition of soon?

Only saw the barrel with the shell casing.

Maybe Xenophobe, M24armorer or someone else at the gun store saw the frame and the rest of the pistol.

Who the hell spends $200 for a custom 1911 barrel and $100 for fitting to shoot Wolf ammo through it?

I doubt that was because it was steel cased.

Seems more like a double charge.

In full agreement here on that one. While Wolf is "cheap" in many senses it isn't 3rd world crap either; doubtful a steel cased round could have caused this all by itself. Would certainly help to be able to look over the whole pistol to see what might have happened~ including finding the spent case......

You shouldn't have to look too hard for that spent case.

It was never extracted, and it's still in the chamber

The picture is real dark but the primer looks like it's got melt action going on.

Certainly looks like a heavy charge or a bullet that was set back quite a bit and loaded.

Do you know what brand of custom barrel it is?

Either a double charge or a squib... the barrel does look slightly funny between the muzzle and the end of the crack...

You're right~ my bad it is in the pic; didn't see it on first look.......teach me to look harder into shadows!

Sombody's gotta get that spent case outta there and post a pic of just that; a steel case that ruptures *should* still be contained within a good barrel/chamber~ I'm still thinking too many other variables at this moment for an edumicated guess

Is it me or does the barrel look off?? The exterior of the barrel looks very worn and the ramped throated part of the chamber opening looks very thin. I'm wondering of the barrel wasn't the problem. It may just be the angle of the pic, but the barrel doesn't look kosher to me.
