Need Help Before I Cry..... AK47 Dilemma

    Dear Calgunner,

    I Feel Depressed.

    Can you help me?

    Problem:
I have a SAM7R-66C California Model. Hate The Mag Lock, Lost 3 Set of Bullet button Tools Already, on my last one.

Everyday, I ask myself why did I buy this gun. Talked to my gunsmith, he is telling me that we can change it out for the normal one and install a Bullet button... Feeling much better, but where can I buy the normal lock from?

    2nd Problem:
Want to change the stock on it, I want to install a AR15 Style adjustable stock. But I can not find an adapter to install them without cutting 1 out of the 2 tang. Bought 2 of them and non of them work on this Mill receiver.

If anyone have any clue on how I can resolve these issue, you will be fixing a dying marriage between me and my aK.

    Thanks

Had similar issues w/ my sam7-sf that didnt 'sf'. Milled reciever was nice but heavy. Zero stock options. Ended up selling.

The bullet buttun is a problem, and since I hate grip wraps, decided to come up with a simple solution. I drilled a hole in one side of the "bullet buttun" and cut a slot in the other side. Got a 1/4" diameter by 2" steel pin & attached a washer type magnet to one end. Pin goes through the hole & sticks out through the slot on the other side. Rests right up against the back side of the mag release lever. Push the slot side of the pin forward with your off-hand to drop mags. Pin is held in place by magnet, but is attached by lanyard to your strong-hand wrist. Is attached to you & not the gun. Take your hand off the gun & pin slides right out & goes with you.

Thanks everyone for the input. Did anyone ever install an AR15 stock on it if I'm willing to cut one of the tang?

Kydex wrap from munkeeboi; standard mag release from M+M - problem solved.

This is a significant upgrade for AK rifles of all varieties. Utilizing a proprietary design, it secures any AK-spec magazine more securely, and without problems such as wearing grooves in synthetic magazine lugs, which can result in snags when changing magazines. The kit allows most users to install this new Magazine Release with minimal tools.

This is the arsenal made magazine lock? Lock is riveted to receiver right?

Sell it and get a "free state" AK and use Solar lock or something similar

I was frustrated myself when I took my new SAM7SF to the range recently. How did Arsenal come up with such a ridiculous mag release? You're really stuck not being able to release your mag without that dumb tiny tool. I guess that's the point, but if you loose that tool you're SOL.

I wasn't having it, so jumped on the Internet and ordered three items that eased the pain.

                        1. Kit D (Pro series) bullet tool. Install these on your mags, from http://www.thordsencustoms.com/
                        2. MRL mag release kit. Arsenal release is too short, from http://www.mm-industries.com/product...tries-mrl-kit/
                        3. Ambi AK Stike lock. Use the Thordson bullet tool or any tool for that matter, from http://www.strikeindustries.com/shop/index.php/

A couple of Allen wrenches and a 3/8" drill and about an hours time made my SAM7SF fun to shoot again. Can't help with your stock. I like the one on my SAM7. Hope the tip reconciles your relationship with your SAM7R.
