While they will never make a 357 Shield, S&W did make a M&P 357c. It's really rare though.

Size wise, it's very similar to the Shield:

Looks like another gun to add to the list to buy.

                  Couple things....

I am very happy with my shield in 9, seriously considering getting a second one.

I would buy a shield in 45 if available and at MSRP, not Calguns PPT rates.

Finally, I don't understand all the complaints on .45 ACP recoil. It is pretty tame in my opinion. I have a .500 S&W that has some ***** behind it. Also have a 12 gauge pump with a pistol grip that will give you a wake up call. But .45 ACP.... no, even in a small gun is nothing for a grown man to complain about. If you can't handle it, go back to .22 LR or just stop shooting and get out of it.

Mind sharing how you picked up this off roster gem?

Smart money is on him being a LEO or the purchase being a PPT.

In my opinion....the glock 36 and XDS or Shield 45 can not be compared to each other.

I spit out my beer thanks! I own a Shield in 9mm and after the changing out the annoying LCI on the top, it has become my new favorite shooter. Very accurate for a short barrel, and very good ergonomics for my short fingers. Never shot the .40, but I am sure it's alot more kick than my 9. I guess it's just preference and the ability to quickly reset that sight picture.

I'd rather have a compact single stacked Colt 1911.

I have a 9mm Shield (would never even consider a .40), but prefer an Airweight or Scandium Snubby instead and are now just made a move on a Sig 238 in .380 (which is 9mm short). When it comes to concealed carry, I gladly trade smaller size, better concealability, and increased comfort over more firepower.
